Tyler Barriss of Los Angeles faces three charges in connection with a deadly officer-involved shooting in Wichita

A California man accused of making a hoax emergency call that led to the fatal police shooting of an unarmed man has been extradited to Kansas.

Barriss is also facing charges regarding giving false alarm and falsely reporting a felony.

Calgary police said Tuesday they have charged Tyler Raj Barriss, 25, of Los Angeles, with mischief and fraud charges following the incident on December 22 that saw officers along with police dogs surround the unnamed woman's apartment.

Barriss is now being held in the Sedgwick County jail on a $500,000 bond.

Barriss made his first court appearance Friday, where he was officially charged with involuntary manslaughter. After this incident, an arrest was later made, and now the suspect has officially been charged with involuntary manslaughter for having his hand in the events that led to a person's death.

Barriss was arrested in a Los Angeles transitional recovery center, law enforcement sources told NBC. Police officers who responded surrounded a Wichita address provided by the caller and fatally shot the man who came out of the home, Andrew Finch.

This particular incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a low-stakes Call of Duty match, and Finch's mother's residence seems to be a random nearby address to one of the parties involved in the game.

Barriss, 25, is accused of claiming to the dispatcher that he had shot his father in the head and was holding the rest of his family hostage.

Barriss had a reputation for helping people gain revenge against online enemies and gaming opponents through swatting - placing a hoax phone call about a unsafe situation in order to trigger a massive police response at an address to frighten its occupants.

Reports say Barriss was called by someone after a feud between two Call of Duty players broke out over a virtual "friendly kill" during a game earlier that day.

One of the players allegedly called Barriss and requested he "swat" another player.

Calgary tactical officers descended on the neighborhood, evacuating the surrounding area before a woman at the home also called police to warn them she believed she was the target of a fake call.
