'Altered Carbon' Trailer: Netflix Unveils First Look, Posters For Cyberpunk Series

No wonder, then, that these characters go all in when it comes to battle: What are a few mortal injuries when you can just upload your consciousness into a fresh new body, or "sleeve"?

Netflix describes "Altered Carbon" as "an intriguing story of murder, love, sex, and betrayal, set more than 300 years in the future".

Netflix has released a full-length trailer for its original science fiction TV show Altered Carbon, and it takes viewers forcefully into the future where consciousness and body are two distinctly separate things.

Kinnaman has recently described the series as being massive, noting how those involved in the production are "really going to be able to create a world that's got a bigger budget than the first three seasons of Game of Thrones".

Kovacs didn't come back of his own accord though; he was brought back by bajillionaire Laurens Bancroft, who is also now living in a new sleeve, and wants Kovacs to find who killed his previous body.

Who is in the cast?

Brought back to life after 250 years by Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy) the richest man on Earth, ex-Envoy soldier Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman / Will Yun Lee) must solve Bancroft's attempted murder for the chance to live again in a world he doesn't recognize. Makes sense, given its literary source material (Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan) and cinematic inspiration (Blade Runner). Netflix has clearly invested a lot into the series, as they have created an evocative futurist landscape that mimics similar narratives such as Blade Runner. Netflix has its very own cyberbunk television series, which begins streaming Friday, February 2nd.
