In the final global fixture of the Australian season, the hosts finished with a bang on Saturday (February 10).

In front of a crowd of 42,691 for the closing fixture of the global summer, the Australians galloped to their target with 33 balls to spare, as Chris Lynn, D'Arcy Short and Glenn Maxwell all contributed.

Aaron Finch returned to the side after recovering from a niggle. Australia's T20 fortunes have taken a decided turn for the better; Warner and company will hope they stay that way after the flight to New Zealand.

D'Arcy Short starred for Australia with 36 not out.

England's attack showed one change from Hobart, with Liam Dawson recalled as second spinner in place of paceman Mark Wood. Not to be outdone, Maxwell then mercilessly thrashed legspinner Adil Rashid as Australia smashed 39 runs across the two overs.

After Maxwell departed in the 14th over, Finch enjoyed an entertaining five-ball cameo that yielded a pair of sixes and two fours to complete the victory.

David Warner's white ball woes continued, but that wasn't enough to stop Australia from booking their spot in the Twenty20 tri-series final with a seven-wicket victory over England at the MCG.

While Roy fell to Kane Richardson, Hales was dismissed by Billy Stanlake and Malan was run out by David Warner.

Stanlake (2-28) and Richardson (3-33) did the damage for Australia.

England were reeling at 34 for three in the fourth over when David Warner ran out Dawid Malan with a brilliant direct hit. Warner's swift side-arm flick punctuated a rejuvenated Australia's stranglehold over England. James Vince too departed early and England were struggling at 70/4 after 10.4 overs, let down once again by a jittery top order.

The flashy Vince (21) showcased his usual mixed bag of shots before being bowled by Andrew Tye as England sank to 70 for 4 in the 11th over. Willey scored 10 runs for the team England. Later, Buttler and Billings played and added few runs where Billings scored 29 runs so far.

However, earlier the tri nation series, Australia and England played a Test and a ODI series between them where Test series was known as Ashes. The series shifts to New Zealand with the hosts playing England in a crucial clash on February 13.
