The first english-dubbed trailer for Batman Ninja, the new animated film in which, well, Batman is a ninja, is now available to view.

This trailer - the first one in English - gives a better glimpse at what Batman Ninja is about: Batman as a samurai working with a handful of familiar allies including Robin, Catwoman, and Nightwing to stop the Joker.

Batman Ninja will be released digitally on April 24, 2018; and on Blu-ray and DVD on May 8, 2018.

The movie is now set for a digital release on the 24th of April, 2018 while the Blu-ray copy and DVD are slated for a release on the 8th of May. The story, penned by Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren Lagann), transports Batman and some of his famous friends to feudal Japan by way of Gorilla Grodd's time displacement machine. The villains are essentially becoming the feudal lords who have taken over, with the Joker taking the "lead" role as he often does. A DC press release reveals a different kind of struggle for Gotham City's finest, noting how "as his traditional high-tech weaponry is exhausted nearly immediately, Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies - including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family - to restore order to the land, and return to present-day Gotham City".

The film features the voice cast of Roger Craig Smith as Batman, Tony Hale as The Joker, respectively.

Prepare to witness the Dark Knight, alongside many of his most famed allies and infamous foes, in an eye-popping anime display you've never seen before when Warner Bros. "We can't wait for fans to see this film".

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure producer Junpei Mizusaki directed Batman Ninja, which bears character designs from Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki. Award-winning screenwriters Leo Chu and Eric Garcia (Supah Ninjas, Afro Samurai) adapted the film's script to English. DC animation's usual Harley Quinn actress Tara Strong will voice both Harley and Poison Ivy in Batman Ninja, while Spongebob Squarepants actor Tom Kenny will voice Penguin.

He may dress like he has a fetish for flying rodents, but for all intents and purposes Batman is a ninja.
