It is a far cry from informing the FISA court of the material fact that the Steele dossier was bought and paid for by the campaign of presidential candidate Donald Trump's adversary, Hillary Clinton, and the Democratic National Committee which Hillary Clinton controlled by that time.

The latest details, which detail alleged spy abuses, are likely to complicate efforts by Democratic leaders to rebut the allegations and keep the public focused on the continuing investigation into claims the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation.

"The FISA applications are either materially false in claiming that Mr. Steele said he did no provide the dossier information to the press prior to October 2016, or Mr. Steele made materially false statements to the Federal Bureau of Investigation when he claimed he only provided the dossier information to his business partner and the Federal Bureau of Investigation", they write.

Republicans have said that the failure to mention the Clinton campaign and DNC was a major omission from the FISA applications.

The Goodlatte request presents a very interesting dynamic because Presiding Judge Rosemary Collyer was the FISC Justice who wrote the extensive 99-page opinion (based on the reporting by NSA Director Mike Rogers and the admissions from the Department of Justice) that outlined the intentional abuse and misrepresentations to the FISA Court within the FISA-702 process.

While politicians, pundits, and the people continue to react to (and spin) the contents of the Nunes memo that was released last Friday, and await the release of the Democrats' rebuttal, a new document has been released that contains tidbits of illuminating information. "Then, when Grassley and Graham tried to make the information public, the Feds redacted almost their whole memo".

Then-FBI Director James Comey briefed Feinstein and Grassley in March 2017, and told them that the FBI had relied on the dossier "absent meaningful corroboration - and in light of the highly political motives surrounding its creation" because Steele himself was considered reliable due to his past work with the FBI.

Grassley and Graham had released the heavily-redacted version of the memo earlier this week.

"If you compare that version of the Grassley memo to the new version with less redactions, it's clear the redactions had nothing to do with national security, and everything to do with trying to keep embarrassing information from getting out", the source said.

A former British ambassador to Russian Federation advised a retired MI6 spy that he had "no honourable choice" other than to tell the USA authorities about a dossier of allegations he had compiled linking President Trump and the Kremlin. They all come back to the actions of one man: Christopher Steele. The FBI learned in October he had unauthorized s with media, and suspended its relationship with Steele.

The extent of the FBI's reliance on Steele's reports has become a central question dividing Republicans and Democrats. The FBI also seems to have closed its eyes to evidence that Mr. Steele wasn't honest.

The senators released their redacted memo three days after Trump declassified a four-page summary memo prepared by the staff of House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.).

The FBI also unredacted a portion that said Steele's information "formed a significant portion of the FBI's warrant application, and the FISA application relied more heavily on Steele's credibility than on any independent verification or corroboration for his claims".
