As with past Olympics, NBC is requiring proof of a subscription.

The 2018 Olympics are officially open, as anybody anywhere near a TV playing NBC knows, but the opening ceremonies won't unroll until Friday morning, U.S. time.

Translation: "Our ratings are going to blow everyone else away".

Olympic snowboarding will begin airing on NBCSN starting at 9:15 a.m. ET on Saturday, February 10.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to be apolitical in a time when that's been very hard to do", said Couric, who's making a return to NBC for the Olympics.

This is not the first time Snapchat will cover the Olympics - in 2016, it covered the Rio Olympics, but only through the Stories feature.

Tirico is 51 years old and made his mark with ESPN. However, millions of casual viewers will be just getting to know him.

"Just like with the National Football League, you try to get a sense if it's going to happen and it's newsworthy so you cover it", he said.

The change shows how programmers like NBCUniversal, Comcast Corp.'s entertainment division, are trying to adapt to a world where more people watch online and fewer watch on television at home. Every Olympic event will be available to stream live and on-demand at NBCOlympics.com where you'll also find a insane array of highlights and video features, along with the full live-stream schedule of all your favorite Winter Olympic sports.

The good news is that there is now a long list of streaming TV services that are affordable, require no lengthy commitment, will authenticate the NBC Sports apps, and offer an Apple TV app. Sign up with one of them and you can both test the service for a month and use your credentials to enable live streaming in the NBC Sports apps.

I saw "I, Tonya". We're not quite sure if Hollywood is up for that, but the former figure skating star will at least have a little piece of the spotlight during the Olympics as a "special correspondent" for "Inside Edition".

We're told that Kerrigan will bring her "unique perspective" to the tabloid television news magazine, providing "exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes reports". The events are alpine skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, freestyle skating, ice hockey, luge, Nordic combined skiing, short track speed skating, skeleton, ski jumping, snowboard and speed skating. There's now 5 men's events, 5 women's events, and 1 mixed event [Team Ski-Snowboard Cross]. It was held only once, in 1932. "If they're passionate about the Olympics, it doesn't matter whether they're on NBCSN, on the broadcast network or digital". Startup Pluto TV, for one, has millions of viewers tune in every month to its free service that puts together more than 100 channels of on-demand video set up like linear networks. We can look forward to watching the first Nigerian bobsled team compete for a medal and maybe inspire a sequel to the 1993 movie "Cool Runnings", about the Jamaican bobsled team.

The app redesign is rolling out to users in stages in countries including the UK, US, Australia and Canada.
