As a reminder, T-Mobile added 1.9 million new customers in Q4 2017, which makes that the 19th straight quarter that T-Mo added more than 1 million new subscribers.

Adjusted earnings of $2.7 billion, however, beat analysts' forecasts as the carrier reported that tax reform legislation impacted its net income and earnings levels by $2.2 billion.

T-Mobile is targeting a Capex (capital expenditure) of $4.9 to $5.3 billion this year with a special focus on 5G networks.

T-Mobile added 1.9 million new connections in Q4 2017 and 5.7 million in 2017, thanks to its cost effective data plans and marketing campaigns to beat Verizon, Sprint and AT&T in the USA wireless market. Indeed, T-Mobile has added more than 39 million customers over the last five years and changed the economics for rivals Verizon and AT&T.

Free cash flow, meanwhile, jumped by more than 50 percent year-over-year to $1.1 billion.

For the full year, service revenues rose 8.3 percent to United States dollars 30.2 billion, while total revenues lifted 8.3 percent to 40.6 billion.

Net income grew YoY, too, to finish at $2.7 billion, which T-Mobile attributes to factors like the Tax Cuts Jobs Act and after-tax spectrum gains.

Branded postpaid ARPU came to $46.38, down 4.1% Y/Y; branded prepaid ARPU was $38.63 (up 1.1%). T-Mo's 4G LTE network covered 322 million people at the end of 2017, and it's estimated that that number will reach 325 million by the end of 2018. Regarding 600 MHz, the company lit up the spectrum in 586 cities and towns in 28 states across the country, covering 300,000 square miles by the end of past year.

T-Mobile aims to add post-paid customer base of 2 to 3 million in 2018. T-Mobile US has been preaching constantly about its 600 MHz spectrum holdings and its ambitions to be the first nationwide 5G network.

AT&T and Verizon have already announced their 5G network plans for the current year by focusing on fixed wireless networks and mobile Internet.

The nation's No. 3 carrier also reported a 5 percent increase in revenue to $10.8 billion in the fourth quarter of 2017, but that new record nonetheless fell just short of Wall Street expectations.
