The first Indian Prime Minister to visit Palestine, Modi was speaking after holding bilateral talks with President Mahmoud Abbas.

Prime Minister Modi, who is on his maiden trip to Palestine, will be received by President Mahmoud Abbas before the ceremonial welcome in the compound of the Presidential Headquarters, also known as Muqata'a. As one goes through historical records, it becomes amply clear that Modi being the first Indian Prime Minister to land in Palestinian territory is due to a mere technicality.

During the bilateral meeting with PM Modi, Sultan Qaboos appreciated the contribution of honest and hard working Indian nationals in the development of Oman, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said. From there he visited the UAE, before arriving in Oman.

The Mausoleum of Yasser Arafat was unveiled on November 10, 2007 and is located adjacent to the compound of Presidential Headquarters (Al-Muqata'a).

"The Palestinian President thanked India for the ongoing projects".

"The growing ties between them could be positive, because now India has more leverage with Israel and can pressure it in our favor", he said. He favoured the path of negotiation for establishing peace in the region.

"We believe a permanent solution to Palestine is possible through dialogue". Only diplomacy and farsightedness can set free from violence and baggage of the past.

The unilateral United States decision to declare Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was challenged at the UN General Assembly where 128 nations, including India, voted to turn down the move as "null and void". "Palestinian interests have always got our support and remained at the top in our foreign policy".

After concluding his historic tour to Palestine, Mr Modi reached Abu Dhabi yesterday evening as part of his three-nation visit. This is the first stone temple to be built in Abu Dhabi off Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway.

Modi will be laying the foundation stone for the temple on 11 February from the Dubai Opera House, via video conferencing. He said the rulers of the UAE had expressed much confidence in Indian values - and it is now incumbent upon the Indian community to fulfil those expectations.

It will be completed by 2020, and open to people of all religious backgrounds.

The UAE has two Hindu temples both located in Dubai.
