Opposition legislators protest Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta’s comments on the Sunjuwan militant attack on Saturday

In wake of the terror attack at the Army headquarters at Jammu's Sunjwan, BJP MLAs chanted the anti-Pakistan slogans in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. "The party will say nothing more on this issue", tweeted Omar Abdullah.

Akbar Lone, a National Conference lawmaker from Sonawari, later accepted that he had raised the slogans because he had been "provoked" by the slogans raised by BJP lawmakers, the Times of India reported. Gupta later expunged his remarks after he was cornered by opposition NC and the ruling PDP members.

While talking to media, IoK MLA Akbar Lone said, "I am a Muslim first".

Later amid the House proceedings, BJP MLA and J&K Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta alleged links between the Rohingya settlements in Jammu with the attack on Army camp today.

Trouble began when the Speaker, responding to angry remarks from the legislators over the terror attack on the Sunjwan military camp, said the area fell in the Assembly constituency of NC leader Mohammad Akbar Lone.

MLA Lone said that he will continue doing this inside and outside of the Assembly as he founds "no wrong in it". DGP S P Vaid said the terrorists entered from the rear side of Sunjwan Army camp where family quarters are located. The militants have been isolated, they said.

Mattu said the NC chief stated that Lone should not forget that he belonged to the party which had rejected the two-nation theory.

Following this, Speaker expunged the words and the House resumed normal working.

"Totally endorse my Party President's views outlined in these two tweets". On behalf of the entire party, Junaid Azim Mattu conveyed that, "The party disowns and condemns his remarks".

Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah said: "We need to focus on the unfortunate developments in #SunjwanArmyCamp & not get distracted by misplaced slogans." in his tweet.
