'Pad Man' denied release in Pakistan

The film made a jump of 35% on the second day, taking the collections to about Rs 13.50 crore at the domestic market. The opening day of the film got good audience and nice words of mouth from the critics. The movie is inspired by the real life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who is revolutionising low-priced sanitary napkins in rural India. Padman was just about to release with Padmaavat, which would insanely affected the collections of this film though in last moments Akshay and Bhansali chose to shift the Padman and both the films got the chance to get individual space window on box office.

The three films including Padmaavat, Padman, and Aiyaary were clashing on the same day. It deals with menstrual hygiene and is inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu who introduced low-priced sanitary pads to villages in India.

"I would also request our government to make sanitary napkins free of cost in rural areas in our country, " Akshay said. While the movie stayed clear of any controversies unlike several other films that have been in news of late, looks like "PadMan" too is now mired in one post its successful release. Directed by R Balki, the film also launches Twinkle Khanna as a producer. According to the members, the film deals with "taboo" subjects such as menstruation and, thus, can not be allowed to screen in Pakistan. The writer of the script already filed an FIR against the lead actor and he tells that he had sent a copy of the script to Dharma Productions of Karan Johar. Akshay Kumar is perhaps one of the most underrated actors in the industry.

Akshay Kumar's "Pad Man", which deals the issue of menstrual hygiene, has been banned in Pakistan. The Federal Censor Board (FCB) of our neighbouring country has not only denied Pad Man a certificate but its members have also refused to watch the film, saying that it is based on a "taboo subject".
