Taking the occasion to hit out at the Manik Sarkar-led state government Prime Minister Modi said the people of the landlocked state have been deprived of their rights

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day may give an indication on snap Lok Sabha elections from the ramparts of the Red Fort, BJP sources said, pointing to the party chief's message to all state units to prepare for general elections.

Unprecedented achievements in the eradication of corruption, internal security, and increase in global influence have been achieved, he stated. "(When the country was fighting in Doklam, you were meeting the people of China)", Prime Minister Modi said during the debate on the motion of thanks to the President's address in the Lok Sabha.

He asked MPs to run public awareness campaigns about the impact of the decisions taken in this Budget about farmers getting MSP, one-and-a-half times the cost of the crop and medical insurance of Rs 5-lakh per family to 10,000-crore poor families.

"Disputes have been there between Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), I proposed (in a meeting with BJP leader Ram Lal) that both should stay together, BJP should talk to Uddhav Thackeray about the problems", Athawale told ANI.

Intervening in Shah's speech, Modi described how he held discussions with party cadres in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi over lunch by bringing his own tiffin.

At the meeting, two booklets containing the Prime Minister's speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos and Shah's speech at various platforms were distributed among the MPs. He asked the MPs to counter the opposition's onslaught over the Rafale deal. Quoting Mr Shah, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said, it would not be right to discuss all components of the deal.
