Woman gives birth and leaves note after abandoning infant son in Arizona airport bathroom as authorities ask for public's help in identifying her

A baby believed born in a Tucson International Airport restroom was left behind with a note that said, "I'm sorry". This new video was released this week as authorities step up their efforts to find the mother.

The woman on the surveillance video arrived at the Tucson International Airport as an expectant mother - and walked out without her newborn baby. She can't and unfit to deal with me. "Please get me to the authorities so they can find a good home", the message said, scrawled on notebook paper in the voice of the newborn.

Authorities described the mystery woman as being aged in her mid-20s and said she was wearing black leggings and a coat.

The hours-old baby boy was wrapped in a dark jacket and lying on a changing table in a women's restroom when he was discovered by a woman who works for Avis Rent-a-Car in Tucson International Airport on January 14, Tucson Airport Authority Police (TAAPD) said. Despite a torn umbilical cord, he was mostly healthy. Authorities say she left the airport without her baby boy.

The Washington Post reported airport officials found bloody clothes in an airport bathroom they believe belong to the woman.

A custodian told police she saw the woman holding the baby inside the restroom and that there were pools of blood on the floor. The baby was naked with its eyes closed, Quintana said, but the woman said the baby was three months old and left in a hurried manner.

Though the airport is not considered a safe haven, law enforcement officials said there are no criminal charges pending against the unknown woman.

But the airports are not among facilities commonly designated as safe havens.

A spokeswoman for the Tucson Airport Authority, Jessie Butler, told the Arizona Republic that they want to interview the mother and what they learn will determine whether or not she is charged. "There is a lot of fear".
