Saturday's tweet follows spousal abuse allegations against two Trump aides that shook the White House over the past week.

Kelly has come under fire recently over whether he knew about the allegations against Porter in the months before Porter's resignation last week.

Porter, whose title was staff secretary, controlled material coming to the president and was frequently at Trump's side.

Sorensen's job at the White House did not need security clearance, but his background check was ongoing.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough dismissed Kellyanne Conway's insistence that White House chief of staff John Kelly still enjoyed the president's full confidence.

He was no doubt upset that accusations of domestic violence against his staff secretary Rob Porter forced the staffer out of his White House job.

"In talking with the President, I think he's saddened about what happened with Rob", Short told NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

Speechwriter Sorensen has vehemently resigned after being accused of domestic abuse by his former wife who claimed that he emotionally and violently abused her while they were married.

The White House counselor also defended Trump following criticism over his response to the Porter allegations, saying the president is "sympathetic towards women and men who are victims of domestic violence".

Donald Trump totally ignored the desperate cries of multiple women who came forward to make allegations about #Roy Moore's alleged sexual misconduct.

"I do think if you put on a political hat, that is a big problem, certainly how we are viewed as Republicans in the next election", Flake added. "Some are true and some are false", he wrote.

As for how exactly Porter's sordid past did not prevent him from being given a position in the White House, Short explained the process used to hire staffers. The RNC's defense ― that Wynn deserves due process ― is not one the party afforded to former Sen.

Trump was not consulted when Hicks and several other aides drafted a White House statement defending Porter, and he was under the impression that Hicks had let her relationship with Porter cloud her judgment, a source familiar with the matter said.

On This Week, Conway told Stephanopoulos that Trump has "great compassion and understanding for, for women on many different issues", a remark that undoubtedly made many viewers choke on their Cheerios.

The next day, the President tweeted "lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation".

Stephanopoulos wondered why Trump's sympathies immediately go to a man accused of sexual abuse or harassment. "He said very strongly yesterday that he's innocent", Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. "John Kelly knows that he serves at the pleasure of the president, and he will step aside anytime the president doesn't want him to be there".

Porter, on the other hand, resigned on Wednesday amid abuse accusations by his exes.
