Following their dramatic last-gasp win over France, Joe Schmidt's men welcome the Italians to the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.

Ulster trio Rory Best, Iain Henderson and Jacob Stockdale will all start for Ireland against Italy while Leinster's up-and-coming star Jordan Larmour is expected to make his global debut off the bench.

Six Nations debutant Jack Conan, Jack McGrath, Devin Toner and Dan Leavy are drafted into Ireland's pack. "I think in a test match of that magnitude it only takes one lapse for a team to get back into the game and we want to make sure those lapses aren't repeated", Schmidt said.

"It's a good situation that he could potentially slot in around experienced players".

There are no changes to the backline.

Flanker van der Flier will miss the remainder of the Six Nations after sustaining knee ligament damage in Paris. These Six Nations games do become, if nothing else, mentally attritional.

Conan gets his chance at number eight - he has scored four tries in his five caps - as Stander starts on the bench, following his huge physical contribution in last weekend's victory.

Saturday's encounter will be former Ireland full-back O'Shea's first match in Dublin as Azzurri head coach.

But Schmidt is reluctant to rotate Carbery with British and Irish fly-half Johnny Sexton, not because of his doubts over Carbery, but because he wants to keep Sexton match fit ahead of the ensuing ties with Wales and Scotland due to the fallow week that follows this weekend's second round.

IRELAND: Rob Kearney, Keith Earls, Robbie Henshaw, Bundee Aki, Jacob Stockdale, Johnny Sexton, Conor Murray; Jack Conan, Dan Leavy, Peter O'Mahony, Devin Toner, Iain Henderson, Tadhg Furlong, Rory Best (capt), Jack McGrath.
