Snapchat faces backlash over the new user interface from its users

The change of layout, however, is not sitting well with all Snapchat users.

As part of the redesign, Snapchat has added a few other changes.

The new version of Snapchat started reaching users around the turn of the year, but the company is now stepping up the rollout. Some users jokingly asked who were the ones in charge of the Snapchat update and who were responsible for the design.

The revised app has come with chages in Discover feature, it has a personalised news feed and an auto-advance feature taking users from one story directly to the another.

In the update, Snapchat still opens to the camera, but swiping left reveals a new "Friends" page, where users see Stories from the friends they talk to the most.

Swiping right will take you to an overhauled Discover page that serves you Stories from publishers, creators, and community.

Think Snapchat's 2018 update sucks? Here's how to turn off automatic updates in future

And finally, the Snap Map will now appear on the Discover page in Search. This is provisioned to show the friends to the users based on as how well do they engage with them.

OK, so, thanks to Twitter, some users have claimed that this workaround works, but Pocket-lint has yet to replicate it. Try it yourself and let us know in the comments if it works.

Snapchat, meanwhile, is aware of the complaints, with a company spokesperson this week saying: "Updates as big as this one can take a little getting used to, but we hope the community will enjoy it once they settle in". Then they add a custom caption like "Happy Birthday, Josh!" using Snapchat's new fonts we scooped last week including Brush, Italic, Glow, Gradient, Rainbow, Fancy, and Old English. At this point, you'll need to download or buy an Android File Explorer app to find the file on your Android device, and then you can just tap on it and install it. After that, you'll see an option to disable automatic app updates.

In response, Snapchat has branched into hardware for the first time with its video-enabled Spectacles, though so far those devices have failed to sell as hoped. Then go to this link and download an older version of the app. Google may warn you that you are installing an app from an unknown source, allow the installation anyway.

From there, you'll be able to turn off auto-update for Snapchat. Now tap on the X in the top-left corner to delete the app.
