Teen Who Livestreamed Crash That Killed Sister Sentenced to Prison

'It should have been me' California 'drunk' teen live-streamed sister's crash death sentenced 6 years

A Merced County, Calif., court handed down a sentence Thursday far below Sanchez's predictions: six years and four months in prison for crimes of gross vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and child endangerment, the Merced Sun-Star reported, the last charge stemming from her sister's death and injuries to another teen girl in the back seat. The auto driven by Sanchez veered onto the shoulder of a road in Los Banos, about 100 miles south of San Francisco. Authorities said she overcorrected, causing the vehicle to swerve and overturn into a field. Prosecutors argued that the language in the video show Sanchez' disregard for her sister's death.

Leading into the crash, the speeding 19 year old sister can be heard speaking with carefree abandon until the moment she crashes.

The teen was recording herself driving on Instagram Live in a video that captured the entire event.

The Instagram video shows Obdulia Sanchez lean over a motionless body and say: 'My sister is dead - I don't give a fuck. I know I am going to jail for life, all right? "I understand that. I don't care".

Tests conducted shortly after the crash revealed that Sanchez had a blood alcohol level of.106, reported the Mercury Sun.

"I didn't even know I looked like a monster - like I look like a freaking disgusting monster".

While they had asked for probation for their daughter, Sanchez's parents thanked the court following her sentence, with her father acknowledging, "Lula did something wrong, and she knows and she accepts everything and she do it".

Sanchez was sentenced with time served, and could be released as early as September 21, 2020, if she shows good behavior, the Sun-Star reported.

"It should have been me". I f-- killed my sister, OK?

Sanchez was a victim of child sex trafficking, Samrao said, noting that her abuser was now in prison. "I had so much potential, but I threw it all away because I wanted to look cool and drive carelessly".

Sanchez, who was 18 at the time of the crash, continued to film after the crash when she tried to wake her sister up.

"It's like a reflex. It was the only way my sister would get a decent burial", she said in an August letter to local media. "Everybody does it. Everybody does". They take Snapchats. Why not?
