Trump slams Federal Bureau of Investigation for lack of action on shooter Cruz

James Snead thought he had the only key to the safe, but he now believes Cruz kept one for himself, he told the paper.

Recently orphaned, as his adoptive mother had died about three months ago, Nikolas Cruz was living with a family in Florida who said they had no idea that despite his depressed nature, the 19-year-old would be behind one of the worst mass school shootings in USA history.

Cruz faces 17 counts of first-degree murder and is being held without bond.

Cruz told the Sneads he would inherit at least Dollars 800,000 from his parents, with most of the funds becoming available when he turned 22 - and the claim appeared to be borne out by paperwork the couple have subsequently seen, they said.

In a written statement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said a person close to Cruz contacted the agency's tip line January 5 to report concerns about "Cruz's gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting". He said the suspect followed the rules and never gave them any cause for concern with weapons or violence.

Just three months earlier, Cruz moved in with the Sneads after his mother, Lynda Cruz, died of pneumonia.

They said they crossed paths with Mr. Cruz at the police station, but they have not had any other contact with him.

The Sneads claim that they saw no signs of the animal cruelty that Cruz's neighbors and peers noted in the past, nor did they hear about rumors that he'd stalked a girl from Stoneman Douglas, his former school.

"I still can't process it because this isn't the person we knew", Kimberly Snead continued. "We're still grieving", he said on "Good Morning America."

"What we've seen in three major atrocities is that the system that was in place simply was not followed".

"We didn't speak with him, I more of yelled at him", Kimberly said.

Regardless of these reports, Cruz was still able to purchase an AR-15 rifle legally from a store on February 2017 which he then used to carry out a mass shooting at Douglas High School, Florida on Valentine's Day.

He also owned several other guns, including two other assault rifles as well as knives, according to the Sneads who own firearms themselves and did not find this unusual. They said "yes" once and "no" once. "I was actually going to strangle him".

The gunman accused of killing 17 people inside a Florida high school will plead guilty if prosecutors take the death penalty off the table, Broward County Public Defender Howard Finkelstein confirmed Saturday. "I tried to reserve myself". "He was just a kid that I feel was looking for a friend and no one was there for him in a time that was rough for him". "We're very sorry that they had this experience and it never should have happened".

In one post about his biological mother, Cruz said: "My real mom was a Jew". "And that was the last time we saw him".
