Tyreke Evans Remains With Grizzlies As Trade Deadline Passes

After what felt like ages of dangling Tyreke Evans on the trade market, hoping to pat down the highest bidder for all they had, the Memphis Grizzlies passed the February 8 National Basketball Association trade deadline without a deal. Ennis has battled injury this season and was averaging 6.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Yahoo's Shams Charania posted on Twitter yesterday that the Sixers are the team most likely to look at trading for Evans. If keeping him at the deadline was the only way to guarantee keeping him in free agency, I still would have traded him, probably.

Did the Grizzlies have any offers on the table?

But, according to Wojnarowski, suitors have been protective of their first-round picks.

But that might also be why Memphis is keeping Gasol.

The #Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and Denver Nuggets have reportedly offered second-round picks to the Grizzlies in exchange for Evans.

It should be noted that Evans is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season, so his suitors will have to decide if he is worth surrendering a first-round pick. Evans is the leading scorer for Memphis at 19 points a game. All of this is exactly why he should have been traded to anyone for anything. And, it seems, teams are wary of offering too much for a guy they will only have for a few moths.

My thoughts and the thoughts of many others in the Twitterverse is that how do you not get anything for an expiring contract who, odds are, will not return.

The Grizzlies had sat Evans for the last week with the expectation that he would be traded.

Evans' contract, which expires at the end of this season, is helping to drive down his value.
