Adam Rippon of the United States celebrates after his performance in the men's single skating free skating in the Gangneung Ice Arena at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Gangneung, South Korea, Monday, Feb. 12, 2018.

Christine Brennan, who's at the Olympics reporting, pointed out how popular Rippon was with the media.

Rippon did not try any quadruple jumps while Kolyada and Chan did.

USA figure skater Adam Rippon dazzled fans with his incredible Sunday night performance at the Winter Olympics. "But I kept it together". "Going into it, I was like a train, get on those tracks and get some speed. I felt it was important to come out here and skate a very strong performance for the USA team". I want to be one of the first medals at the Games.

Nagasu became only the third woman to successfully complete the triple axel at the Olympics - the other two being Japanese skaters Midori Ito and Mao Asada.

The women's free skate competition Sunday night (Feb. 11) at the Olympics was as mesmerising for the action on the ice as it was for the athletes' choice of music. Now Nagasu has joined them. "And so today is a day of accomplishment for me", she continued. "It is a lot of pressure and stress to come out here. To nail it the way I did - and even out of the corner of my eye, I could see my team mates standing in excitement".

When the women's competition was over, Nagasu was a surprising - and stunning - second, behind only OAR's Alina Zagitova.

The figure skater told Andrea Joyce from NBC, "To nail that triple axel, I tripped a couple times going into it, but I told myself, 'No, I'm going to go for it and I'm not pulling back".

Then, last but hardly least, the sister-brother team of Maia and Alex Shibutani did their part, finishing second in the dance to Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir to put the finishing touches on the American bronze medal.
