The President, who arrived at the Makurdi Airport at exactly 10:43 am on Monday morning, will head to the Government House, where the stakeholders are already waiting to meet with him.

One of the protesters, Jonah Kwaor, who described the operatives as overzealous, said, "We wanted the President to know the magnitude of the senseless killings in our communities, but security men, including the police, drove us away and seized some of our placards".

Also, the president of peasant farmers in Nigeria, Terlumun Akputu disclosed that over 160,000 famers were displaced, attributing the inability of farmers to defend themselves during the attack by herdsmen to the amnesty progrmme of the governor. The Federal Government should compensate them and assist in the rebuilding of their homes as promised by the committee on displaced people headed by the vice president.

According to the Presidency, Mr Buhari's visit is to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the New Year's Day attack in the state.

He regretted that the state was backward in infrastructure development, saying that a social visit would enable the president to assess its level of backwardness.

The state government on Friday suspended the mass burial of fresh victims of suspected herdsmen attack in the state.

President Buhari on March 5 commenced an official visit to Taraba, Plateau and other states of the federation affected by security crisis for an on the spot assessment of damages caused by herdsmen-farmers clashes.
