Broncos to sign QB Case Keenum

NFL Free Agency Rumors: Drew Brees turned down another $60M deal from mystery team

Donovan McNabb is the classic example: The quarterback signed a massive five-year, $78 million contract with the Washington Redskins in 2010 - and only saw $8 million of it after being traded to the Vikings and released in December 2011.

"No final decisions have been made", Cousins' agent Mike McCartney told ESPN Tuesday. Bridgewater, a first-round pick in 2014, was supposed to end the revolving door of QBs in Minnesota but his knee injury ruined that plan. "That's all we can say right now".

More draft speculation will take root once the free-agent wheel stops spinning, especially as quarterbacks like Kirk Cousins, AJ McCarron, Teddy Bridgewater and Josh McCown find new homes. During that time, he has ranked fourth in passing yards, sixth in passer rating, seventh in Total QBR and eighth in touchdown passes.

Cousins has thrown for at least 4,000 yards and 25 touchdowns in each of the last three seasons. But the three-year contract he will reportedly sign with the Minnesota Vikings may be a watershed moment in National Football League history.

KUSA -Case Keenum, who is coming off a magical, out-of-nowhere season with the Minnesota Vikings, is about to become the Denver Broncos' new quarterback.

Cousins went 26-30-and-1 as Redskins starting QB, including a 24-23-1 record the past three seasons - a stretch during which he started every game.

After that season, the Redskins and Cousins couldn't agree on a long-term deal, so the team placed the franchise tag on him. Since becoming the starter in 2015, he has an 81-36 touchdown-interception ratio, plus 11 rushing touchdowns.

It can be argued that he played that role for Washington since being drafted by the Redskins in 2012.

Keenum is a player the Broncos know well because Kubiak, now the Broncos' senior personnel adviser, coached him for two seasons while he was head coach of the Houston Texans.

Case Keenum - who quarterbacked the Vikings to an NFC North title in 2017 - is set to sign with the Broncos in free agency.

The only other quarterback now signed by the Vikings is former undrafted free agent Kyle Sloter. He was deactivated for the playoffs in favor of Bradford.

Cousins will have plenty to work with in Minnesota, including standout wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Adam Theilen, running back Dalvin Cook and tight end Kyle Rudolph. But if bringing in Cousins to the ready-to-win-big Vikings team is the very thing that will put a chink in the armor of that stellar Purple supporting cast, how can that be a sound maneuver?
