Wolverhampton Wanderers attacking midfielder Diogo Jota has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at his side's win against Leeds United at Elland Road.

"Congratulations to the best team but hope the league can be fair and equal to all 24 teams".

The statement read: "At its meeting today the EFL Board considered at length the matter of the relationship between Wolverhampton Wanderers, majority shareholder of the club, Fosun and Jorge Mendes, in light of the recent concerns raised by a number of clubs".

It is understood the growing concerns over Wolves' dealings - others were raised separately earlier in the week - are being looked at by the EFL.

"Firstly I would like to be clear that I have great respect for Nuno Santo and his team who have performed extremely well throughout the course of this season".

Nuno Espirito Santo's side had gone three league games without a win and seen their advantage at the summit whittled down from 13 points to three after second-placed Cardiff City beat struggling Barnsley 2-1 on Tuesday. To go beyond that, it doesn't affect us.

He said:"We have our own problems but we should play in a fair competition".

"I don't pay any attention to it, to be honest. You know and I know other owners feel the same way".

Whelan also insisted that Wolves' success is not just down to money, with Nuno having drilled his troops properly.

"We have to perform well to stand a chance and we have to be clinical in both boxes".

Wolves got their promotion push back on track, ending a three-match winless streak, as first-half headers from Saiss and Boly were added to by Afobe's cool finish 16 minutes from time. They have a good manager and it's going to be tough. "A very good performance, this is the way".
