The company could have plans to unveil a lower priced Retina MacBook that replaces the MacBook Air at the event. KGI also reported that Apple will be making a cheaper 13-inch MacBook Air later this year, but there could be a confusion between the two sources or we could be seeing a cheaper MacBook and MacBook Air.

Whilst it seems like it will be cheaper than the current 12-inch MacBook which costs $1299, Digitimes is not very precise when it comes to pricing.

Apple is reportedly working on a new 13-inch Retina Display MacBook that will ship in June. The new design seeks to keep crumbs and dust out of Apple's laptop scissor switches. The report adds more details about the refreshes expected in the iPad and iPad Pro product lines. The current MacBook Pro has the same 2560 x 1600-pixel resolution. The MacBook, meanwhile, has a 12-inch display with 2304 x 1440 resolution. It says priced "at the same level or slightly higher" than the current MacBook Air. As for the assembly, Quanta Computer obtains 70% of the orders and Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) 30%. The report doesn't mention an actual launch date for the new laptop, but a WWDC 2018 launch certainly makes sense. Further, according to Digitimes Research senior analyst Jim Hsiao, shipments for this upcoming MacBook model are expected to reach four million units by the end of 2018.

Meanwhile, the upstream supply chain has recently begun shipping components for iPad Pro upgrades and a new affordable 9.7-inch iPad - a refreshed version of its 2017 counterpart.

It's unclear when Apple might reveal these new products, but if previous year is any indication, WWDC 2018 seems to be as good a place as any.
