On the reality show, the former White House aide told her fellow houseguests that Pence is an "extreme" Christian who believes that "Jesus tells him to say things".

On "The View" on Tuesday, Behar said, "I think Vice President Pence is right".

Monday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity", Vice President Mike Pence called on ABC's "The View" co-host Joy Behar to apologize for "slander" against Christians.

"I just think it demonstrates how out-of-touch some in the mainstream media are with the faith and values of the American people", he said.

The vice president added that while that was enough for him, Ms. Behar had wronged tens of millions of Americans who deserve an apology too. "I did encourage her, and I'm still encouraging her, to use the form of that program or some other public forum to apologize to tens of millions of Americans who were equally offended", he said.

The 75-year-old comedian made the controversial remark last month while discussing comments made by Omarosa on "Celebrity Big Brother". He said at a meeting with investors, "Joy Behar apologized to Vice President Pence directly. She called me. She was very honest, and she apologized and one of the things my faith teaches me is grace; forgive as you've been forgiven", Pence told Sean Hannity. "That's called mental illness, if I'm not correct, hearing voices".

On February 13, Behar mockingly called the Vice President's faith "mental illness" because he listens to God speaking in his heart during personal prayer. "She made a call to him and apologized, which I thought was absolutely appropriate".

Iger responded by saying, "I don't know where I start".

A day after her initial joke, Behar attempted to clarify her comments on the air.

Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center, which urged Christians to write and call ABC, said Behar's private phone apology is inadequate.

The View's Meghan McCain, an Evangelical Christian, did apologize to Pence on air.
