Late-night hosts had a blast Tuesday with the news that President Trump had fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, stacking their monologues with jokes aimed at the two men.

Fuelling talk of a serious falling out between the pair, Mr Tillerson was reported late previous year to have referred to Mr Trump as a "moron" after a national security meeting a few months earlier. Tillerson never denied using the word.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer would not go into detail on the confirmation process, but when asked if he was planning to call on Democrats to oppose Mr. Trump's nominations in Gina Haspel and Pompeo, he replied in a veiled manner, "At this point, I am not".

The move stunned Mr Tillerson, 65, who joined the administration after about four decades at ExxonMobil without having a previous relationship with Mr Trump. And quite frankly, after a year, we didn't get very far. I wish everyone well and look forward to getting more rest and perhaps winning an indoor rowing competition. "I wanted to either break it or do something, and he felt a little bit differently".

Trump yesterday fired Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State and nominated Pompeo as his replacement.

Tillerson also spoke with White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.

He said he would delegate all authority to Deputy Secretary John Sullivan, who will serve as acting secretary until Pompeo is confirmed. He pointedly failed to thank Trump or praise his policies.

"I do not see that this change will have any consequential effect on American foreign policy".

"While I could be mistaken and I hope so, Mr. Pompeo's appointment in conjunction with Ambassador Haley's continuing antics in the United Nations are of little assistance in resolving worldwide crisis", Rasmussen said.

Rex Tillerson is the 20 important casualty in Trump's administration who is ousted from his position.

Gina Haspel, the veteran CIA undercover officer President Donald Trump picked on Tuesday to head the agency, is supported by many in the U.S. intelligence community but has faced criticism for overseeing a secret CIA prison in Thailand where detainees were tortured. A veteran CIA clandestine officer, Haspel is backed by many in the US intelligence community but is regarded warily by some in Congress for her involvement in the agency's "black site" detention facilities.

Speaking to reporters outside the White House Trump on Tuesday said his differences with Tillerson came down to personal "chemistry".

Tillerson in his farewell remarks this week warned Washington must do more to respond to Russia's "troubling behaviour and actions". As Pompeo comes, he comes from the inner Central Intelligence Agency. The measure of his success is striking a balance between his loyalty to Trump and the interests of the institution he will now lead. "It's been unsettling to the market within the context of what we see now in the economy, which is a favorable backdrop". Trump said there was no reason to consult him because no matter what the group decided, Tillerson would be against it, the official said.

He also has longstanding, close ties to Charles and David Koch, the billionaire conservatives who continue to fund efforts to discredit mainstream climate science and sow doubt among the public.

"North Korea, without question, is the biggest deal", Blessing told 69 News. "Pompeo, who is known as a political partisan and an opponent of the Iran agreement, raises the prospect of the collapse of that deal, and increases the possibility that the administration might soon face not one, but two nuclear crises", he said.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak publicly.

Whatever the reason, Mr. Pompeo tends to tread lightly on all matters Russian Federation, hates the Iran deal with the same passion as Mr. Trump, and displays greater fealty to the loyalty-obsessed President than Mr. Tillerson did.

When Tillerson didn't step aside, Trump fired him, that official said.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Piskov said that Russian Federation is hoping for a "constructive" approach from the United States.

Rex Tillerson's tenure as Secretary of State is over and it nearly feels like an act of mercy to put an old, sick pet down.

His economic nationalism became the lynchpin of Trump policies, even as many of his other ideas were rebuffed by policy rivals.

THE QUOTE: "Over and above the reflection of chaos within the USA administration, the removal of another balancing voice in the White House shortly after ex-economic adviser Gary Cohn's departure certainly induced jitters within the market", said Jingyi Pan, market strategist at IG in Singapore.
