Liverpool legend Carragher spits at Man Utd supporting family auto

At first, it appears that Carragher is smiling at the United fans, who were reported to be a 14-year-old girl and her father, but he then winds his window down and spits in their direction, with the young girl heard suggesting the spit had landed on her.

The man is heard on the video to shout "2-1 Jamie lad, 2-1", before Carragher wound down his window to respond, with the 40-year-old replying "alright lad" before spitting towards the vehicle.

Tonight, Carragher, 40, posted on Twitter: "Totally out of order and I've apologised personally to all the family this evening". I was goaded 3/4 times along the motorway while being filmed & lost my rag.

Sky Sports have confirmed they will be discussing the incident with Carragher - describing the incident as "unacceptable".

Carragher is due to appear on Monday Night Football alongside his former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and Gary Neville for Stoke's clash with Manchester City on Monday evening.

Carragher was being filmed by the driver, who told the Daily Mirror he was "having a bit of banter" following the game, which had ended with United winning 2-1.

"She was crying. She said, 'I'm embarrassed, he has just spat in my face. I thought, 'Why has he done that".

"What did she do wrong?"

The mum said: "I was extremely angry and disappointed that he could even bring himself to do something like that".

The harsh words for Carragher have come after a video yesterday emerged of a United fan taunting him by shouting the scoreline from his vehicle after the match.

"What did she do wrong?" He asks her: "Where did it hit you?" Spitting at someone is the lowest of the low.

Talking about the incident, the United fan said that he was left fuming by Carragher's actions because his daughter was crying for what had just happened. "I will apologise to the daughter".
