Updating the Bills' draft picks following the Cordy Glenn trade

Here's who the 2018 NFL Draft's top centers compared to at the combine

Here's who the 2018 NFL Draft's top centers compared to at the combine

The Bills have moved up the first round of this year's National Football League draft by sending Cordy Glenn and the No. 21 pick to the Bengals in exchange for the No. 12 choice, The MMQB's Albert Breer reports.

This move certainly looks as if the Bills are looking to draft their franchise quarterback after trading Tyrod Taylor to Cleveland for a third-round pick. The Bills will give the Bengals a first-round pick, No. 21 overall, and a fifth-round pick, No. 121. At pick 21, the Bills would be asking a team near the top of the draft to make an unprecedented move.

And they may have to, considering that they do not now have much available at quarterback after they traded their starter, Tyrod Taylor, to the Cleveland Browns for the top pick in the third round.

The 28-year-old has only played in 17 of a possible 32 regular season games over the past seasons.

Last summer, Glenn missed a significant portion of training camp and the preseason because of a lingering foot and ankle injury.

The writing on the wall surrounding Glenn's future in Buffalo centered around Dion Dawkins ably filling in for him.

Cincinnati will pick up the existing contract with Glenn paying him $11,250,000 in 2018. He was then placed on the season-ending injured reserve in Week 15 after being unable to play in five straight weeks before that.

He will remain the team's starting left tackle moving forward and allows the team to move on from their former starter with very few regrets.

Per Spotrac, the Bills incur a $9.6 million dead money charge but also net $4.85 million in cap savings for 2018 as a result of the transaction.

Glenn's cap number will hit $14,450,000 this year, as he was under a five year, $60 million dollar contract with the Bills in May of 2016.
