OnePlus is introducing the Android Oreo 8.1 update with its OxygenOS 5.1.0, and it also includes the April security patch from Google.

"The OTA file is approximately 766MB and will be rolled out incrementally to users". Like in the case of all other updates, the OnePlus has pushed the new update in a phased manner and hence it will take few days for the new software bits to appear on your handset. However, if you cannot wait to upgrade your 5/5T with this update, you can check for it manually by heading over to the Settings System updates menu. For those that do not know, this functional update will allow the phones to update their Android version to Android 8.1 Oreo. OnePlus' bug report forum can be used to submit feedback and report bugs in the latest update. You should note that the company has discontinued OnePlus 5 and hence the update will be available only for users who have access to the device.

Starting today, the Android Oreo 8.1 update will be rolling out to OnePlus 5 and 5T owners. There is also an added network boost which adds priority for the gaming app in the foreground.

The Android 8.1-based OTA update adds category tags in the search section of the launcher's app drawer and automatically names folders based on category.

Moreover, the new firmware brings a bunch of new features and enhancements which includes new improvements to the gaming mode, such as optimizations for powering saving mode which is accompanied by better adaptive brightness within the game while its paused.
