Bayern, Liverpool-Roma in Champions League semifinals

Eintracht Frankfurt boss Niko Kovac will become the next coach of Bayern Munich

Eintracht Frankfurt boss Niko Kovac will become the next coach of Bayern Munich

The 46-year-old will succeed Jupp Heynckes at the Bundesliga giants in July, having penned a three-year deal at Allianz Arena.

Bayern progressed to the last four on Wednesday for the seventh time in nine seasons, prevailing 2-1 on aggregate following their first-leg victory in Spain last week.

"Niko was a Bayern player, he knows the people in charge as well as the structure and the club's DNA".

The ESPN FC crew weigh up Niko Kovac's credentials, amidst rumours that the Croatian will be the next Bayern Munich manager.

Heynckes replaced Carlo Ancelotti in October after the Italian was sacked following a series of poor result.

"There is no reason to doubt that I will be the coach of Frankfurt next season", said Kovac, a former coach of the Croatia national team.

Heynckes has been very good this season, helping the Bavarians regain their lead in the Bundesliga - and win it by miles - as well as reaching the Champions League semi-final.

Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann and former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel had always been considered the frontrunners, but Nagelsmann was considered too inexperienced and Tuchel has been heavily linked with Paris Saint-Germain in recent days.
