Will the Broncos draft Saquon Barkley after cutting CJ Anderson?

The team is releasing the running back, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported on Monday, according to a source informed of the decision.

The move comes on the heels of Anderson's best year of his career after he rushed for 1,007 yards last season, the first 1,000 yard season of his career. Cutting the running back saves the Broncos $4.5 million on the salary cap.

Talib was soon shipped to the Los Angeles Rams and now Anderson is a free agent. He took the spotlight during his second season as he rushed for 767 yards and eight touchdowns in the final eight games of the season. He also added in 28 receptions for 224 receiving yards and four total touchdowns.

The Broncos tried to find a trade for Anderson throughout the offseason, even coming close to trading him to the Dolphins at one point.

Anderson put together five solid seasons in Denver but never truly cemented himself as a reliable featured back. Miami now has veteran Frank Gore and Kenyan Drake in their backfield.
