Buffon stands by Oliver rant

Referee Michael Oliver gave Real Madrid a late penalty which saw them edge past Juventus

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon says he fully stands behind his inflammatory comments made toward referee Michael Oliver after Wednesday's dramatic Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

But, in injury-time, with extra-time just 30 seconds away, Real's Lucas Vazquez tumbled under the challenge of Juve defender Mehdi Benatia and referee Michael Oliver awarded a hotly disputed penalty.

"Clearly you can not have a heart in your chest, but a garbage bin", the 40-year-old told Mediaset Premium after the game in reference to Oliver's decision to award Real Madrid a late, decisive penalty.

"But those who insinuated - maybe by only reporting part of what I said - that I am going against Gigi, in bad faith or even happy that Juve were eliminated, is hurting me".

The 40 year old can be given some leeway considering the emotion of the awarding of the last minute penalty and even in his reaction post match as emotions still would have been running high.

Mario Mandzukic's two first-half headers and Blaise Matuidi's 61st-minute effort had helped the Italian side take a 3-0 lead at the Bernabeu, pulling them level on aggregate with half an hour left.

"For 20 years, Buffon has been a role model both on and off the pitch", Allegri told reporters ahead of Sunday's clash with Sampdoria.

"I'm sure Oliver will have a great career in future, but he's too young to officiate a match like that", the goalkeeper added.

Calls have been growing for Juventus and above all Buffon to apologise for their very harsh language in the wake of the penalty decision, encouraging their pseudo fans to calm down.

'Before being a Juventino, I am an Italian, and I really cared about Italian football doing well. I need to search deep within myself and work out how I feel. I got emotional. It was just priceless.

'It wasn't a situation where you could say: "That is definitely a penalty".

"Big admirer of Buffon but his behaviour since has been inflammatory and out of order."

The Portuguese ace has netted 15 goals in the competition this season, including at least one in every Real Madrid game.

"Oliver was doing his job and hard to argue against his decisions".
