Congressman Bridenstine To Be Sworn In As NASA's Newest Administrator

U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine

Most administrators have been approved almost unanimously, but Bridenstine only got through by a single vote.

It's official: NASA has a new leader.

Bridenstine, who has spoken at large about transforming USA space policy, added; "I look forward to working with the outstanding team at NASA to achieve the President's vision for American leadership in space". "And NASA will lead the way".

"My long-time friend and ally, Jim Bridenstine, has the ability to make an exceptional NASA administrator", Brooks said after the vote.

When Trump publicized Bridenstine as his candidate to take over the agency, Democrats were quite concerned it could campaign a conventionally non-partisan work.

Vice President Mike Pence and NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine talk with NASA astronauts Andrew Feustel, Scott Tingle and Ricky Arnold on the International Space Station shortly after Bridenstine was sworn in as NASA's new administrator on April 23, 2018 at the agency's headquarters in Washington, D.C. He's demonstrated that he holds anti-LGBT views and has proven sceptical of the humankind's link to the changing climate.

The Senate narrowly on Thursday voted 50-49 on partisan lines to confirm Bridenstine to serve as NASA's 13th administrator. He was elected to the US Congress to represent Oklahoma's First Congressional District in 2012. He takes over NASA from outgoing acting Administrator Robert Lightfoot, a career NASA engineer-manager who ran the civilian space agency after its previous administrator, former shuttle commander Charles Bolden, retired in the wake of the 2016 presidential election. Bridenstine is a former NAVY pilot of U.S. but does not have much experience and background on the science side.

Bridenstine's road to administrator has not been smooth.
