Former FBI director James Comey makes shocking claims about Trump

But Trump dedicated most of his morning to Comey, whom he called a "Slimeball!" in his first tweet, which is not his first use of that epithet in regards to Comey.

Comey made the statement in an interview with George Stephanopoulos that aired Sunday night on ABC's 20/20. "I just thought it was a weird enough experience for me to be talking to the incoming president of the United States about prostitutes in a hotel in Moscow". He also acknowledged he had no proof that Russian Federation has dirt on Trump: "I think it's possible".

The president also seemed to be responding to the FBI raid on and court-authorized search of the office of his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, who authorities said has been under criminal investigation for months. The retired general pleaded guilty in December and is now cooperating with Mueller's investigation.

"I don't know. These are more words I never thought I'd utter about a president of the United States, but it's possible", said Comey, who was sacked by Trump on May 9, 2017. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), and Comey's May 2017 testimony when he told Grassley that he had never been an anonymous source to the news media.

The assertion that Trump demanded loyalty was "another of his many lies", Trump tweeted. Lindsey Graham (R- S.C.) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) who found transcripts in August showing that Comey had drafted a statement rejecting charges be filed against Clinton, about two months before Clinton ever spoke with FBI investigators. "They blame him for her loss".

During the interview, Stephanopoulos asked Comey what it would "mean if President Trump tries to fire Robert Mueller".

Conway took issue with the idea that Comey cost Hillary Clinton the election with his late-October public letter on the investigation into her emails.

"Comey drafted the Crooked Hillary exoneration long before he talked to her (lied in Congress to Senator G)", Trump fired in an early morning tweet. She asserted that Comey has "proven to be dishonest".

Stephanopoulos also asked Comey if he thinks the President has been compromised by the Russians.

"The American people see right through the blatant lies of a self-admitted leaker", Sanders said Friday.

There's a new ABC poll out Monday showing Trump's vulnerabilities with voters, a majority of which view him unfavorably as a person even as his job approval rating hits a high and the economy continues to perform well.

"If I ever start considering whose political fortunes will be affected by a decision, we're done", Comey said of his thinking at the time, referring to what he believed was the FBI's responsibility to act as an independent law enforcement agency. So far, 19 people - including Flynn and Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort -have been charged in the investigation. This man is billing himself as a very thoughtful, moral and introspective "leader" but was perfectly willing to stick around and work under Trump?

"He believes Americans are "duty bound" to "go to the voting booth and vote their values".
