Putin was quoted as urging for a "thorough and objective probe" into the reports of the chemical weapons attack.

The allies could not wait "to alleviate further humanitarian suffering caused by chemical weapons attacks", according to excerpts of her speech.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Saturday that the strikes had been carried out in violation of norms and principles of the global law.

"When we see malicious cyber activity, whether it be from the Kremlin or other malicious nation-state actors, we are going to push back", said Rob Joyce, the White House cyber security coordinator.

Trump himself appeared on Thursday to cast doubt on at least the timing of any USA -led military action, tweeting: "Never said when an attack on Syria would take place".

Fortunately, the US-led strikes were carefully tailored not to hit Russian or Iranian interests in Syria.

The Kremlin took no military action in 2017 when the US conducted similar airstrikes on a Syrian airbase... but Russian observers say that could easily change.

Speaking to reporters, Erdogan said he had told both Trump and Putin that increasing tensions in the region was not right.

He said the attack was staged on April 7 to coincide with military action by Syrian regime forces, after the opposition group Jaish al Islam that long controlled eastern Ghouta carried out shelling of Damascus from April 3 to 6. Erdogan did not elaborate.

Russian Federation has dismissed the purported chemical attack as fake and strongly warned the USA and its allies against launching a military strike in Syria.

Russian Federation has been a staunch ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad's government and has helped turn the tide of war in his favor since entering the conflict in September 2015.

While Trump himself remained silent on Syria on Friday, Macron - who has said France has proof that Assad's government used chemical weapons in the attack in Douma - spoke by phone with Putin.

Yildirim on Friday again condemned the "heinous" the attack in Douma and said the perpetrators should "pay a price". A new war against Syria would have negative consequences, especially because it would end the little confidence we have left over the acts of the West, Lavrov told the British public radio and television network BBC. He was referring to the three countries' efforts to reduce violence in Syria.

In this regard, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that first there was punishment against Syria and then the inspectors were allowed to do their job.

He said Moscow had "irrefutable information that it was another fabrication".

Russian officials denied any involvement during the most violent days of the fighting between the Ukrainian military and Russian-backed forces in eastern Ukraine in 2014, while journalists and Western intelligence agencies reported tanks pouring across the Russian border into the Ukraine. He didn't elaborate or name the state.

By contrast, eight countries voted against the Russian draft the US, UK, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Kuwait, Poland and Ivory Coast.
