Jill Blackstone was arrested for murder three years after her sister’s 2015 death

Daytime television producer Jill Blackstone, who worked on the Jerry Springer and Rosie O'Donnell shows, has been arrested for the 2015 killing of her deaf and partially blind sister, authorities said Thursday.

Later in March 2018, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office filed murder and animal cruelty charges and issued a warrant for Jill Blackstone. She is awaiting extradition to L.A.

According to LAPD, on March 14, 2015, Jill Blackstone drugged her sister Wendy Blackstone and placed her in the garage of their North Hollywood residence along with three pet dogs. Three dogs were also found at the scene, and one had died. A coroner's report obtained by the Los Angeles Times said a suicide note was found in Wendy Blackstone's hand, but investigators believed it was actually written by Jill Blackstone.

The newspaper says Jill Blackstone worked as a TV producer for programs including "The Jerry Springer Show" and "Family Court with Judge Penny". Jill Blackstone then allegedly set the garage on fire, killing Wendy Blackstone and two of the dogs, staging it as an accident.

Homicide detectives were notified by the suspect's attorney that she had checked herself into the hospital due to a medical condition, according to police. It is also believed that there may have been a suicide pact that Jill had backed out of, leaving the enclosed garage before she, too, succumbed to the carbon monoxide being emitted from the grill. Jill, too, had suffered from severe carbon monoxide poisoning after the incident and had to spend two days recovering in a hospital.

TMZ reported as far back as 2015 that police didn't believe aspects of Jill Blackstone's story added up.

At first it appeared that Wendy - who was deaf and partially blind - had killed herself, but now police believe that Jill assisted her sister, according to TMZ. We were told they were investigating a double suicide, an attempt, and one of the people died.

Blackstone is expected to be extradited to Los Angeles to face charges.
