According to The Hollywood Reporter he is now looking to repeat the success by once again collaborating with its producers, Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller to make Life on Mars, a new movie set on the red planet. The story centres on a woman "who is among a handful of descendants of a Martian colony long-abandoned by Earth following a cataclysm".

It's said that Krasinski found the story and brought it to his Platinum Dunes colleagues.

There's now no writer tied to the project, which will be based on Cecil Castellucci's short story, "We Have Always Lived on Mars".

And Paramount, which distributed their current hit of a horror movie, is supposedly in talks to also pick up the upcoming project.

There is no scribe attached as yet and Krasinski, at this stage, is not expected to star. The woman one day finds she can breathe the air on Mars, upending her world and that of her fellow colonists.

A Quiet Place's John Krasinski seems to be enjoying the success as a filmmaker for his visceral horror which the film is now experiencing at the worldwide box office. The mostly silent film about monsters that use sound to prey on humans raked in $50 million at the domestic box office. His directorial debut was in 2009, based on David Foster Wallace's collection of short stories, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men.

The next movie he will star in is Jack Ryan, based on a character by author Tom Clancy. Created by Media Muse, the clip ties together scenes from the 2018 film written and directed by John Krasinski with elements from NBC comedy The Office, where the actor played Jim Halpert.
