Raheem Sterling will be one of the best players in the world if he can become a better finisher, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes.

A week later than they would have preferred, Manchester City have been crowned Premier League champions as second-placed Manchester United suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat to bottom club West Bromwich Albion.

By completing the job after 33 games, City have emulated the achievement of United, who secured the crown with the same number of matches to spare in 2001.

It was always a matter of when rather than if City would be champions after they led the way for most of the season.

"You can't stay in your front room when you win the Premier League", one of those associated with City said as he exited the venue to no doubt continue the celebrations elsewhere.

"It's the same feeling as the first time and you can't describe it", the Belgian told Sky Sports.

"So you kind of want to hold on to this feeling now, it's wonderful". It's incredible, such a hard achievement and I'm proud of the team and everyone involved.

Guardiola and Mourinho have a long rivalry but the United manager said it was not fair to suggest the West Brom loss was the only reason for City's league title.

"Overall I thought the effort was fantastic from the players, I feel proud and this defeat is not going to change my mind".

"And as they [get] stuck into the game you realise: 'Well, something could happen'".

"You can't take it for granted".

"I'm buzzing, over the moon, so happy".

It's not just two games, it's about the course of the season and the quality football that City have played game after game.

"It differs because we were consistent the whole season, that level expected of us". I've been lucky to win three. Previous times, we almost threw it away and that was a feature of every season we won it.

"Yeah, its special, I'm privileged to be part of such a great group, great players, good guys, good mentality, good atmosphere in the team, every single time I'm on the pitch I enjoy it". I've never been able to retain a title and I want to see if this team has it in it to be even more successful. I think with my experience you don't win titles with inconsistency. I'm buzzing, over the moon, so happy and proud to be able to share this with all of our fans, everybody who's been there to support us especially in this last week as many know it's been very hard but at the same time we've bounced back, we're champions now and thank you to all of you, It's an incredible season.
