The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said Monday that searchers located the auto Sunday and recovered the bodies of 41-year-old Sandeep Thottapilly and 9-year-old Saachi Thottapilly. The bodies recovered by the search teams have been identified as that of Sandeep Thottapilly, 41, and his daughter Saachi, nine.

- Authorities in Mendocino County today found the body of a 12-year-old Valencia boy who died along with his parents and sister when their SUV tumbled into a river amid a driving rainstorm.

An inter-agency search and rescue team in California on Friday also recovered some personal items and numerous parts of a vehicle from a swollen river in which the missing Indian family was travelling last week. Mr. Thottapilly and his daughter were found inside a vehicle in about four to six feet of water. A powerful storm dropped 2 to 5 inches of rain the day they disappeared.

Cindy Bartley, assistant to Chief Deputy Coroner Shannon Barney, told India-West that the bodies of Sandeep, Soumya, and Saachi are now with the coroner's office.

The Thottapillys' vehicle was completely submerged under heavy water, said Bartley, noting that intense rains had soaked the river, which was moving very swiftly.

Dozens of searchers had been combing the river with Jet Skis, boats and kayaks, along with dive teams.

"Visibility was extremely poor and divers noted the vehicle was encased in a large amount of sediment from the river current", Capt. Gregory L. Van Patten, field services commander of the sheriff's office, said in the statement.

Searchers have been combing the river for days, by boat and air as weather and water conditions improved.

"Search divers entered the water and were able to feel what they believed to be a person inside of the vehicle". Authorities, who originally had said the body was a child's, anticipate that an autopsy will be performed early next week.

The poster shared on Facebook described the family's vehicle as a maroon or burgundy 2016 Honda Pilot. They were supposed to have arrived to visit a friend in the San Jose area on April 6, but they did not make it as scheduled.
