Buckingham Palace said the prince will now spend his recuperation period at Windsor Castle, where he is expected to be joined by the monarch.

The statement added that the Prince "would like to convey his appreciation" for the well-wishes he has received.

Queen Elizabeth II's husband had been admitted to hospital on April 3 to undergo a planned procedure the following day.

Prince Philip underwent hip surgery nearly two weeks ago, which means that he has been staying in the hospital for 10 days.

She visited the 96-year-old Philip at the King Edward VII Hospital for 50 minutes Thursday afternoon and said afterward he is "on good form".

Will Prince Philip be attending Meghan and Harry's wedding? His Royal Highness is likely to remain in hospital for several days. He appeared in good spirits as he waved to bystanders outside. However, BBC claimed that Princess Anne was Prince Philip's first ever royal visitor.

Philip stepped down from official public duties last summer, although does still attend some events with the Queen.

At the time, a royal spokesman said the duke had been experiencing some "trouble with his hip".

The Queen's comment about Philip came during a brief walkabout after a visit to the King George VI Day Centre in Windsor to mark the 60th anniversary of her opening the building.

He was named in the order of service, but a palace spokesperson said: "The order of service was printed some weeks ago when it was hoped the Duke would be able to take part".
