A case has reportedly been registered in connection with this incident, police said, adding that investigation was underway.

Mr Verma was returning home accompanied by a friend and a bodyguard from an event at Chandigarh's Elante mall.

Shockingly, gangster Dilpreet Singh Dhahan has claimed responsibility for the attack, brazenly uploading a status on his Facebook page making the claim. The two were admitted to a multi-specialty hospital in Mohali. According to police reports, the popular singer was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in Mohali, where he is now undergoing treatment. Dhahan said that Verma had 'tried his best to escape, but eventually suffered.' The gangster also said that Verma was 'lucky to be alive'. Dhalan uploaded a picture on his Facebook account holding a gun with another picture of Parmish Verma with cross drown in his picture.

Along with the post, the gangster also shared a selfie with his pistol and another photo of the singer with a red cross drawn across it. The gangster said in the post that he had "warned" the singer, saying that their "face to face" meeting had cost him.

Police are investigating the matter, let's wait and watch who are the real culprits behind this act. Police also claim that Dilpreet took to crime to avenge an assault in the village, but now has links with the Vicky Gounder gang.

Punjab Police sources say he is into extortion and contract killing. His smash hit "Gaal ni kadni" was released previous year and had been viewed over 118 million times on YouTube.
