Russia Responds: "We Are Being Threatened. A Predesigned Scenario Is Being Implemented"

The United States on Friday blamed the Syrian government for a deadly chemical weapons attack this month and slammed Russian Federation for failing to stop its ally, President Bashar al-Assad, as U.S. President Donald Trump appeared to weigh a forceful military response.

Any other US president would have long ago given a speech denouncing the Russian government for trying to rewrite the rules of the worldwide order to reassert the old balance of power, called out Putin for his desire to replace global institutions and worldwide law with 19th-century great-power politics, and criticized the Russian president for trying to force his corrupt, autocratic system on neighboring states. "Could not have had a better result".

Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the only communications that took place between the US and Russian Federation before the operation were "the normal deconfliction of the airspace, the procedures that are in place for all of our operations in Syria".

Assad is supported by Iranian-back fighters as well as the Russian air force and has cemented his control over most of the western, more heavily populated, part of the country.

With punitive U.S. military action seemingly imminent, Russian Federation scrambled to deflect blame from its ally Bashar al-Assad and, according to a monitor group, Syrian forces evacuated key defense buildings in Damascus. The Pentagon said it gave no explicit warning.

Putin said today that Russian Federation is calling for an immediate UN Security Council meeting to discuss the "aggressive actions" of the U.S., Britain and France.

Asked about the risks of USA military retaliation, Mattis cited two concerns, starting with avoiding civilian casualties. It has more to do with the true reason of the false flag operation, that is, to create the conditions in which an intervention can be launched. Syria's official SANA news agency reported.

Mr Trump himself appeared on Thursday to cast doubt on at least the timing of any US-led military action, tweeting: "Never said when an attack on Syria would take place".

Meanwhile a highly placed Russian politician likened Trump to Adolf Hitler, and said he regarded the military action as a move against Russia.

"We can not exclude any possibilities, unfortunately", Mr Nebenzia told reporters after a private meeting of the UN Security Council in NY.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced the military action from the White House late on Friday.

As the rhetoric sharpened around the accusations, there were few of those who could or would hear the words of experts, who said that detailed test should be done before making any accusations, and who argued that it cannot be concluded whether chemical weapons were really used in Douma based on photographs and videos. Russian Federation could also fire at the launch platforms used - potentially USA planes or ships.

"You don't rush decisions like this", she told reporters. Russian Federation has also used its United Nations veto six times to prevent condemnation of Assad's use of chemical weapons.

Trump was reacting to a warning from Russian Federation that any USA missiles fired at Syria over the deadly assault on a rebel enclave near Damascus would be shot down and the launch sites targeted.

Western powers are thought to be preparing for strikes but Syria's ally Russian Federation opposes such action, the BBC reported on Friday. Sanders said the president's national security team to discuss the options regarding Syria.

Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, blasted Russia Friday for supporting Assad, telling the security council that "if Russia had lived up to its commitment, there would be no chemical weapons in Syria". That did not mean military strikes would continue.

"The pictures of dead children were not fake news", Haley said.

That incident, which killed hundreds, also took place in Eastern Ghouta. He said the missiles hit the "sweet spot", doing the expected level of damage while minimizing the unintentional release of toxic fumes that could be harmful to nearby civilians.

In London, British Prime Minister Theresa May said all the indications pointed to Syrian government responsibility for the attack and such "a shocking and barbaric act" could not go unchallenged.
