The legendary group presented the 28-year-old singer with a GRAMMY award in 2016, and she repaid them by covering their famous track, "September".

Against the backdrop of this harrowing nightmare-world, Taylor Swift has made a decision to record a lightly countrified cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's "September" for the Spotify Singles series. Fans quickly took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

"There are certain songs you don't mess with, especially if you don't have the range, and we all know Taylor Swift has all the range of a dial tone", Judge wrote.

A statement issued by Spotify said: "Taylor says that she chose September for sentimental reasons". Swift replaces the big vibrant sound with a slowed down banjo laced country feel that totally disrespect's the songs intention.

The other notable adjustment Swift made to the song is a key lyric change.

First up, Swift recorded an acoustic version of her single "Delicate", which is as pretty and straightforward as you'd expect.

Excuse me everyone, @taylorswift13's cover of September makes me wish I was in love??

"September" isn't the only new music Swift has been working on.

Swift is also set to appear on the upcoming album from Sugarland.
