The unbelievable story of Michael Cohen-and Sean Hannity

Fox News host Shepard Smith acknowledged Hannity's connection to Cohen on the air Monday.

But, for at least those three other clients, during 2017-2018, Cohen was performing "more traditional legal tasks", the letter said.

Attorneys for Cohen had already applied to Judge Kimba Wood at Manhattan federal court for a restraining order that would stop authorities reviewing the records seized from Cohen until Cohen's team has reviewed the materials themselves.

Cohen is facing mounting legal troubles after his home and offices were raided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation last week.

Journalist Gabriel Sherman told MSNBC that sources told him Hannity had talked to Cohen advice about going after left-wing groups who had been trying to take him off the air. He later added: I "may have" handed Cohen "ten bucks" and asked for attorney-client privilege. "But I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective". "I assumed those conversations were confidential, but to be absolutely clear they never involved any matter between me and a third-party".

Cohen's lawyers have called the raid "completely unprecedented" and asked the judge to let their lawyers review the documents or put in place a special master to comb through the seized material and separate communications that should be protected by attorney client privilege.

"Michael never represented me in any matter", he said.

"They're hoping for the worst when it relates to any conservative", he said.

Cohen is under criminal investigation, prosecutors confirmed last Friday. "We are devoting a large amount of resources to the whole case but, in particular, to our filter team to get this review done very quickly".

The search sought information on a variety of matters, including a $130,000 payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels, who alleges she had sex with a married Trump in 2006.

Federal prosecutors in NY want a special "taint team" of government lawyers to begin reviewing files seized from Cohen during FBI raids last week, so they can decide which are protected by attorney-client privilege and which may be used to prosecute Cohen. The attorneys said in the filing that Cohen represented three clients in the past year: Trump; Elliot Broidy, the Republican fundraiser for whom Cohen helped facilitate a $1.6 million payment to a Playboy playmate; and a third person, who was revealed as Hannity.

Trump denies any sexual relationship with Daniels.
