Tornado Watch In Effect For Eastern Oklahoma

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Randolph and Monroe counties until 1 a.m. Saturday.

A watch means conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in and close to the watch area.

A hard freeze is expected for the Kansas City area, and sensitive outdoor plants should be protected tonight, the weather service said. "If they do, all modes of severe weather are possible".

The rain is expected to fall between 2 and 6 p.m., Gerapetritis said, adding that some storms could linger into the evening.

An ugly weekend weather forecast also could be a risky one, with 2-4 inches of rainfall Saturday bringing flooding potential and severe storms possible.

Chances for rain and snow showers are possible on Saturday and freezing drizzle is possible on Sunday morning. The squall line is expected to produce locally heavy rainfall of 1 to 2 inches, with locally heavier amounts, and winds of 30-40 miles per hour.

Carpenter said the winds will likely be strong throughout the day gusting up to 40 miles per hour.

The risk for severe weather runs from roughly noon Saturday across far west Alabama to 8 a.m. Sunday across far east Alabama.

The entire Midlands area and parts of the Lowcountry are under a lake wind advisory until 8 p.m. "We could see some fallen trees from the storm".

The storm is expected to move out of Wisconsin by Sunday night, setting the stage for quiet weather on Monday, with sunshine and a chilly high of 39.

We encourage you to stay up to date with the latest updates into the weekend as new information becomes available.
