Trump Again Rips Comey Book

Trump Slams Comey As 'Weak And Untruthful Slime Ball'

Trump Slams Comey As 'Weak And Untruthful Slime Ball'

Reuters and other news outlets have obtained copies of Comey's book before its formal release this week. But it will furnish mountains of ammunition for combatants on all sides.

And he added it was his "great honor" to fire Comey in May 2017.

Trump, for his part, is said to be fuming about the book, and White House aides are angry over what they see as Comey's unnecessarily personal jabs at the president, the official said.

Meetings with Trump gave Comey "flashbacks to my earlier career as a prosecutor against the Mob", he says. But still, Trump today casually suggested he's retroactively pleased he fired Comey because he failed to "LOCK HER UP!"

We should of course reserve judgment about the second point until we hear what Comey has to say. At first, it seemed enough.

One week after the inauguration, Trump reportedly invited Comey to have dinner with him in the Green Room.

The US President in a tweet said: "James Comey is a proven leaker and liar".

With Comey's book to be published Tuesday, the Republican National Committee and Trump allies are lining up media appearances of their own in an attempt to discredit both the book and its author. The loyalty oaths. The us-versus-them worldview. On Fox News this week, lawyer and Fox News contributor Joseph diGenova referred to Comey as "the dirtiest cop in America." He maintains an air of rather self-conscious rectitude throughout, while finding much to disapprove of in the world around him. "The lying about all things, large and small, in service to some code of loyalty that put the organization above morality and above the truth".

Self-critical at times, high-minded throughout, Comey holds himself to a superior standard. Yes, the reader might concur, especially if the writer quotes theologians like Reinhold Niebuhr as often as Comey does. But I also think reasonable people might well have handled it different...

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway also criticized Comey.

"No, I didn't even think I used the term Steele dossier", Comey said. Democrats, on the other hand, have accused Comey of politicizing the investigation. In 2013, Obama would tap Comey to be Mueller's successor at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. "No way." He also allegedly ridiculed the very notion that he would ever hire a prostitute: "Can you imagine me, hookers?"

Trump has said he fired Comey because of his handling of the FBI's investigation into Clinton's email practices.

Comey's disclosure shortly before the election that the FBI had reopened its investigation into her email use enraged Democrats. Yet he released a damaging letter just before the election about Hillary Clinton.

Sanders on "This Week" slammed Comey, saying he has been "inconsistent constantly". I know he took the loss hard.

"In effect, she was removing herself but not removing herself".

Trump fired Comey in May, setting off a scramble at the Justice Department that led to the appointment of Robert Mueller as special counsel overseeing the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

The book also includes strikingly personal jabs at Trump that appear created to irritate the president. Asked by NBC's Chuck Todd if he felt Comey was a "man of integrity", Ryan stated that what he knows of Comey would indicate he is.
