The departments of State and Homeland Security began in December to restrict the entry of nationals from Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Syria, Somalia, Venezuela and Yemen.

In a proclamation lifting the ban on Chad, Trump said the other seven countries "did not make notable or sufficient improvements in their identity-management and information-sharing practices" and would remain on the list.

"The president announced today that Chad has raised its security standards to meet important baseline U.S. national security requirements", the Department of Homeland Security announced, AFP reported.

"Chad nationals will therefore again be able to receive visas for travel to the United States", the statement continued.

Officials had also suggested that Chad had a "significant" terrorist presence and accused the country of inadequate information sharing regarding security issues. "These improvements will improve security for the people of Chad and the United States", the State Department said.

Trump's original executive ban on January a year ago was said to have unlawfully targeted Muslim travellers.

The State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert, said the travel restrictions placed on Chad will be terminated Friday, adding that the "improved practices" by Chad "demonstrate a clear off-ramp for countries placed on the travel restriction list".

According to an earlier report by NAIJ.com, the United States government under the administration of Donald Trump on Monday, January 29, announced it was lifting the ban on refugees from 11 "high-risk" countries, but said those seeking to enter the USA would come under much tougher scrutiny than in the past. A month ago Rex Tillerson made a fleeting visit to the country as part of his tour of African nations in his role as USA secretary of state.

The Supreme Court is expected to decide the legality of Trump's travel bans in the coming months. The country also had difficulty in supplying the US with information regarding potential terrorists.
