Yodeling Boy Makes An Appearance On The Ellen Show

But The Ellen Degeneres Show holds a very special place in our hearts, so when 11-year-old Mason Ramsey made an appearance last night to chat with Ellen, we were tickled.

"He yodeled his way from Walmart to my show", Ellen tweeted. In 1925, future Country Music Hall of Fame member, record producer and talent scout Ralph Peer cut four songs by falsetto-singing minstrel performer Emmett Miller for Okeh Records.

Watch Ramsey perform Hank Williams Sr.'s "Lovesick Blues" via the video above.

"If the good Lord's willing and the creeks don't rise, I'll see you all again next time", he shouted at the end, referencing a country song made popular by Johnny Cash.

Little did he know that host Ellen DeGeneres had her own surprise waiting for him. The overwhelming reception has also propelled the track into Spotify's Global Viral 50 chart and Williams into the ranks of The Weeknd and Cardi B.

On top of that was the small matter of a 15,000 dollar (£10,600) college fund set up for him by Walmart, who are also staging a concert in his honour on Wednesday which will be streamed live on the internet. " When you hear how smoothly he sings Hank Williams' song "Lovesick Blues", you'll understand exactly how he got his nickname".

But he's now graduated from the aisles of Walmart to the stage of one of TV's most popular daytime shows.
