Big Sam Sacked by Everton

Sam Allardyce has been relieved from his duties as Everton manager, the club has confirmed.

The 63-year-old guided the Toffees from 13th to an eighth-place finish, but never looked likely to retain the job in the longer-term.

Watford continue to be locked in negotiations with Everton having made an official complaint to the Premier League over the Toffees' alleged tapping up of former manager Marco Silva.

Sam Allardyce has been left "shocked", "disappointed" and "disgusted" by his Everton exit.

Ahead of the meeting, Allardyce has hit out at a lack of "decency" after Everton pushed ahead with boardroom changes by appointing Professor Denise Barrett-Baxendale to replace Robert Elstone as CEO with Dr Keith Harris becoming deputy chairman without his knowledge.

Allardyce took over the reins on November 30 previous year, six months after leaving a similarly short stint at Crystal Palace.

Last month, Allardyce dismissed a survey sent to fans asking them to grade his performance out of 10 as a mistake on the part of the club's marketing director, who he said does not "understand" how football works.

Everton scored only 44 goals in 38 outings in the league, the second lowest tally of all teams outside the bottom six, and with the future in mind, the club have decided to make a change.

The former England striker, 32, has agreed a deal in principle that could see him leave for Major League Soccer side DC United this summer in a £12.5m deal.

In a statement Watford said at the time: "The club is convinced the appointment of Silva was the right one and had it not been for the unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival for his services we would have continued to prosper under his leadership".

Asked about Everton's current situation, Stubbs told talkSPORT host Jim White: "I'm pretty sure they have someone in mind".
