Browns will be featured on 'Hard Knocks'

As first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cleveland Browns will be featured on the upcoming 13th season of HBO's Hard Knocks.

Instead, NFL Films and HBO will follow the Browns this summer, ensuring that the "quarterback competition" between Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield will be overdramatized (Taylor will be the Week 1 starter).

What's more, on four occasions, teams made the playoffs in the year they appeared: the Bengals (2009, 2013), Jets (2010) and Houston Texans (2015).

"I don't think there's anything good that comes out of Hard Knocks, but we'll see", Dorsey told Cleveland radio station WKNR earlier in May.

Although they've won only one game the past two seasons under coach Hue Jackson, the Browns see the show as a possibility to highlight some of their younger players and put a positive spin on their rebuild.

"I've been a part of HARD KNOCKS and when you experience it first-hand, you come to appreciate the inside look it really gives fans", says head coach Hue Jackson. But after talking about it as an organization, he feels much better about the situation. Camera and sound crews will have unencumbered access to players' and coaches' meeting rooms, training rooms, living quarters and practice fields.

The Browns have turned down previous opportunities to be on the award-winning series.

In 2017, "Hard Knocks" was in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers and two years ago, HBO tracked the Rams in their first year in Los Angeles. "The massive scope, meticulous editing and time-hopping special effects that highlight a production under massive time constraints are all impressive, but it's the film crew's access to National Football League players that makes the program special".
