I Will Miss You Brother – Jose Mourinho Reacts As Arsenal Linked Rui Faria's Departure Confirmed

Manchester United's Michael Carrick says he switched "overnight" from being a player to a coach in readiness for Saturday's FA Cup final at Wembley.

Carrick, who will join United manager Jose Mourinho's backroom team from next season, was handed the captain's armband for his final game at Old Trafford and given a guard of honour as the teams emerged for kick-off.

"I am not training this week".

"I'm starting to think the Mourinho factor is losing its impact and if he's not getting results in an entertainment industry then he's under pressure".

"I'm there to give my opinion. I've been at this club, and it is such a great club, so I obviously know the club and the manager", he said.

Whilst not as all-action as some of his peers, such as Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard, Carrick's cool head in the middle of the park has made him one of the most consistent performers in the modern Premier League era. He also won 34 England caps. "Enjoy your retirement, my friend!"

This could work in Rui Faria's favour though it may be too soon considering he wanted a break from football for a short while. "He is one of the very best".

"He's been around for many years". And my analysts. I'm not going to have an assistant manager in the sense of the word. I want to thank the manager for the opportunity, it's unbelievable for me.

"I think it will be Michael Carrick in the future when he has his badges, his pro licence". It's not an issue. And everybody told me we would get that point. He already has no doubt he will be able to call on Carrick's expertise when it comes to identifying new players, particularly in his old midfield role. "He'll teach me some things and we're going to have some success in the near future, I'm certain of that". "I'm well aware of that", he said. It's an awesome place to play football. The French midfielder has been linked to moves to a bigger club and Sunday's game could be an audition for Doucoure to make an impression on Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho insists Carrick will not immediately step into the role but hinted he could make another addition to his coaching team.
